ISFA Cup Game
Latymer 2 vs Harrodian 0

Player of the match: Francesco Saviotti

Coming out of a tight win against John Lyon the team was fired up and ready for their first ISFA cup game of the season. We turned up early to change and warm up before Latymer turned up in order to show that we were there for a reason. After a long and sufficient warm up in the blistering winds and torrential rain the starting team was announced. Oscar and Eliot dropped into the midfield along with Ale to try to dominate the heart of the pitch whilst Marlowe, jordi and Clem set up as a front three. Fin, Francesco, jago and Alek set the back line to lock down any shots whilst Lucas stood between the sticks. Harrodian started the game quickly with a flurry of shots from jordi which the keeper awkwardly and impressively dealt with. However, midway through the second half a lack of communication off of a corner lead to an unmarked man on the edge of the box getting a free shot that deflected into the bottom corner. Harrodian continued to dominate the game through the remainder of the first and went into the changing room frustrated yet hopeful for a breakthrough in the second half. The rain continued to hammer down on us as we went against the wind in the second half. Waves of attack from harrodian hit latymer as they appeared flustered and under extreme pressure. Shots kept coming but their keeper unbelievably managed to stop everything whilst other chances were missed and wasted. Frustration became evident as the ball was being forced forwards without an end product. As we reached the latter stages of the game we played an ultra aggressive style of football which in turn came with a trade off of having less defenders in the back line. Unfortunately this did not pay off as latymer sat back and parked the bus before having one last breakthrough and sealing the game. Whilst the boys were all frustrated the football we played was relatively promising and we will keep our heads held high as we go into the first round of the ISFA trophy at home vs Wellington.
