ISFA Cup Round 1 - Harrodian 8 vs 0 KGS

Goals: Hugh x3, Aidan x2, Oscar x2, Alberto

MOTM: Oscar

After a hard fought win against the old harrodian boys Solly’s army lined up this morning for their first official game of the season against Kingston Grammar school with Archie in goal; Harry, Oscar, Albi and Marlowe being the four at the back; Fra, George and Frankie in midfield and a front three of Clem, Aidan and Hugh. It was the first round of the ISFA cup so all the boys were a little nervous, but after a good warm up and an inspiring team talk from Solly and Tommy the boys were ready for kick-off. We started on the front foot and our high pressing was soon rewarded when Aidan bagged his first of the game and the season 10 minutes in with a lovely first time finish into the bottom corner. We then carried this momentum forwards as only a few minutes later Clem slid a great ball into the box and the debutant Hugh was able to steer it into the net for his first of the game. Aidan was then able to snatch the third of the game and his second with another great finish into the bottom left corner, at which point their ‘TikTok famous’ captain (who just wants to fall in love but always gets it wrong) decided to drop into the midfield from striker as he realised he should probably start to defend too. But this didn’t faze us as we continued to attack relentlessly with Hugh being able to bag his second of the game just before half time, after the ref decided to ignore the fact the the opposition keeper blatantly touched the ball with his hand outside the box. Going into the second half we were determined to continue as we started and we did just that. George continued to pocket their captain while clem continued to terrorise their left back. This then lead to Hugh being able to seal a debut hat trick. After a few tactical changes from the coaches the captain Oscar found himself in striker and wasted no time scoring 2 great goals in front of his family and his biggest fan Harry Bergin. Finally Albi, now playing left wing, closed the scoring a few minutes from full time with a Maradonaesque goal, which set off the opposition keeper getting him sent off just before the final whistle after calling the ref blind. Overall a great first game for the team winning 8-0 and progressing to the second round of the ISFA cup (already further than last year). Now we turn our focus onto the next game on Wednesday for our first friendly of the season. COYP!
